We rogues are always trying something new. Always looking for something different. And we usually find it. While at the QIA Pow Wow in Quartzsite for the 2011 show, we stopped in at the booth of one of our favorite gem stone carvers. She always has a bit of rough stone and slabs. I was taken by something I’d never seen before. She has slices of a material that was translucent agate or quartz with pyrite suspended in the stones. I just had to try it out. And of course, being what it was, it took a very nice polish, and I think the cabs we made turned out beautifully. They’ve been steady sellers online and great sellers at shows. The problem is they look much better in person than in the digital images I’m able to come up with. There’s one right here. Take a look; its a very interesting stone and apparently pretty rare. We’re in the process of adding this to the web store.
