This is part of a parcel of cabs we made from a material called Silver Lace Onyx. The stone is from the Mohave Desert in California. It was mined in or near the town of Calico which is just outside of Barstow. We’ve called the KOA campground at Calico home many times on our trips to and from the shows in Quartzsite and Tucson. I’ve not been able to determine whether it was mined for its own sake on a private claim or in conjunction with a silver mine. From what I understand the mine has been closed for years. I also know the rough material is quite scarce. I’m very happy with the look of the cabs we have made. They took a pretty nice polish and have nice subtle colors and patterns. I really like the black dendrites.
