Now for something very different. We saw this material for the first time at the Denver Gem and Mineral Show last September at a booth just down the row from ours. Thick slabs being sold as mineral specimens. We learned it was from Poland and called schalenblende which in German means "shell ore" It is a combination of sphalerite, wurtzite, galena, and sometimes pyrite or magnesite. Of course, we've never met a rock or mineral we didn't want to cut. So we did. We cut a small handful of awesome cabs and a couple beads.
