We first saw this material in Quartzsite about two years ago not long after the stone was first discovered, appropriately, not far from Quartzsite in La Paz County, Arizona. It is called Mushroom jasper (or sometimes Mushroom Rhyolite) It is a highly silicated orbicular rhyolite. It takes a mirror finish and features orb like formations resembling mushrooms. We first cut a parcel of cabs last summer and sold them all to a single dealer at the Denver show. Now we have cut more, both as cabs and pendant beads. Enjoy!
