We're happy to now be offering designer cabochons we've made from a relatively new material being called Cherry Creek Jasper from China. It is sometimes called Red River jasper probably because the material is from the Red River in China. Like many materials currently being called jasper it probably isn't. It is theorized that it is likely a highly silicated dolomite. Nevertheless in its higher qualities if makes awesome cabs. We moved a bit cautiously with this material as much of it has so-s0 colors and patterns and it is a highly fractured material. Then we so some great slabs in Quartzsite this winter and decided to give it a try. We're very pleased with the result. We managed to work around the fractures and came up with some great nicely colored slabs. Although the material is a bit softer than jasper, we got a fine mirror polish on the stones.
