How We Work

How we work at Rogue Gems LLCAs full-time gemstone dealers, we provide our customers with high quality products, ethical service, full disclosure, and a liberal return policy.

Payment Options

We prefer payment by PayPal, but we also accept checks and U.S. Postal Service money orders.

If you want to use a personal credit card, you can do so at PayPal without having an account there. All credit card purchases are handled on a secure page by PayPal, which means that we never have access to your credit card information.

Shipping

Our goal is to ship immediately upon payment, usually the same day, but no later than two business days. We generally ship via USPS first class mail. Shipping Rates: first class within the U.S. $2.75, first class to Canada $6.75, first class international $7.75. We ship worldwide, and insurance is optional.

Refunds and Exchanges

Because customer satisfaction is central to our business, we have a liberal return policy. We accept returns for a full refund if we receive the item back (in the same condition) within 30 days of purchase. All you have to do is pay the return shipping. If the item we shipped to you was not as described, we will pay or refund the return shipping as well.

Disclosure of Gemstone Treatment

Many gemstones are routinely treated to enhance their appearance. For example, most sapphires have been heat treated. Virtually all blue topaz has been heat treated and irradiated. Pearls may be bleached, dyed, polished and/or carved.

Treatments often improve a material. For example, much of the turquoise we carry has been stabilized. If it isn’t, the material is vulnerable to being affected by perfumes and skin oils, and the color is likely to change over time.

Because treatments almost always affect the value of a gem, we believe they should be disclosed. This is why we always tell you how a stone was treated in the description. If we don’t say anything about treatment, the stone has not been treated.

Like the rest of the gemstone industry, we accept the idea of treatments as long as they are permanent, safe to the consumer, and disclosed.

Photographs and Descriptions

We strive to take accurate photographs of our products. We are not professional photographers, so we try to describe any differences between the images and the item itself when there is a discrepancy. The faceted gemstones are the most difficult to photograph because the images often turn out a bit darker than the stone itself. Photographs are not actual size.

We describe all stones to the best of our knowledge with respect to type, size, weight, shape, color, clarity, and place of origin. We usually measure stones in millimeters; occasionally, we may list sizes in inches.

Unless the listing states otherwise, when we use the term “faceted gemstone,” we mean a traditional faceted stone with a table, crown, girdle and pavilion. We normally do not take photos of the bottom or sides.
