This material is only found in Oregon and is quite rare. It is also difficult to photograph. It looks more blue in the photos than it really is. In person it is a lovely pinkish-lavender to purple.
The name is something of a misnomer. There may have been some blue material found originally, but most of what comes from the deposit in the Holley Mountains, near Sweet Home, Oregon is PURPLE! It is some of the most beautiful chalcedony found anywhere in the world.
