Cocaxinite in Amethyst

Cacoxenite is an iron aluminum phosphate mineral associated with iron ores.  The name comes from a combination of Greek words meaning  “bad” or “evil” and “guest” because cacoxenite decreases the quality of iron. Here it increases the quality of the amethyst, adding color and texture.  Unfortunately this material has quite a few fractures, but we’ll still be able to get some beautiful cabs out of it.
